This is a call for HELP with PinkSlipMixers.com

I will be very candid with the group and really need your support. Please help me grow this group to get people working again or I might have to limit the events.

As you know, I have been unemployed since January 2008.  I was on unemployment benefits up until March 2009.  The EDD has stopped my benefits because of a $200 discrepancy of income reported of my first week of unemployment in January 2008.

I soon might be forced to do less events because of my financial condition.  Right now, I am physically in Los Angeles, but just have enough money to make it back to San Jose.

I am not asking for any financial assistance from you.  I am asking help from you to help me grow this movement.  I am thinking that if I can show that we can find 15,000 new members within the next month, I can find corporate support to fund this project.

What you need to do is tell 100 of your friends and have them tell 100 of their friends of the PinkSlipMixers.com site.  We as a community need to get your unemployed friends to come out to our events!  Hopefully, your friends will sign up to the site.  Hopefully, by having a strong group of members, hiring managers will attend our events.  We also need more members to show sponsors that we can organize and have a strong voice.

I am really passionate about helping people, but I feel that I am being a burden to my friends and family.  I know I have their support but cant market the events properly if I am always looking for shelter every night.

Again, I dont want financial assistance from you.  I need for you to feel passionate about helping others find jobs and get people you know to join PinkSlipMixers.com so they will feel passionate about helping others find jobs.

This needs to be a community driven movement.  To grow this group, Tweet out on Twitter… Post to Facebook… Bulletin on Myspace… Blast your Linkedin groups… that they should join PinkSlipMixers.com

I would hate to start closing the events because we are just gaining momentum nationwide.

Help.

I want to give you a chance to talk to a group down town on June 13, some are unemployed, but some are retired.  This would be a first stop in a tour of some groups in the SouthBay, where you state your case, let me know if you can take a moment to attend our meeting at LiLAX.net on June 13?  We may have another talk about either Data Mining or HDTV in that slot, you don't get the whole meeting.

Just a few suggestions, have you set a group up on LinkedIN? This might help spread the word about the Group. Also, if you have not done so,  contact the One-Stop Centers and Experience Unlimited with the EDD office.

I have told everyone about your group. You are doing a great job.

I wish you good luck, your call to action is only way networks grow.  I must say it ironic that you sent a message discouraging network marketing organization. Now you are one.

To your success,

Stu

Hi Ralf: I will be in San Jose at that time.  I would have love to go but cant.

Hi Theresa: I use Linkedin but still need to convince people to join.

Hi Stu: Thanks for the encouragment. I used to do MLM and believe in it.  I discourage network marketing organizations to join PSM because 98% of participants in the industry dont know how to build relationships and do a hard sell within the first 5 minutes of meeting.  This movement is not network marketing because I dont charge $500 to join.  We are community building.

Nice talking with you yesterday. My group here in Las Vegas is excited about joining your movement. I have asked everyone to go on line and sign up and then pass it on. I liked the previous suggestion of setting up a group on Linkedin, but the only problem is that once people join your group there, they may not want to join your website. Look forward to working with you in the future.

Hi Edwin,

Is there a flyer that you can send to me relating to the pink slip mixers or general information about the organization? I will print it and ask if our local Worksource Career Center will post it on their job bulletin board. This will reach at least 100 more people.

Sincerely,
Denise

Edwin,

Have you appealed the decision of the EDD?  It's not very difficult to file an appeal.  You can research the rules and the past cases which were appealed, it's on their website.  It's free and it's worth a shot.

Hello Edwin and Fellow Pink Slippers!!

Just wanted to give a little testimonial. I have been attending the pink slip mixers since February of this year after months of applying the regular way (monster, careerbuilder, etc).

I have meet many wonderful people and can now say that many of them have become my friend. Everytime we get together, it is like a reunion. Anyway, I met a person who mention to me that there was a network specific to Human Resources ( Which is my background).

In a nutshell, I joined that network, who forward me a job posting and I landed an interview. I have been invited for a second round of interviews next week!! I am excited and will keep you all posted. Technically, I do not have a job yet, but getting an interview through networking proves to be working than just sitting at home applying online.

NETWORKING WORKS!!!!! Everything Happens for a Reason. Had I given up and NOT attended a That pinkslipmixer where I met that individual who referred me that other network, I wouldn't have seen that posting.

Thanks Edwin for your Hard work!!!!

Lets keep Pink Slip Mixers Going!!

Regards,

Patty

Hi Edwin..

I hold weekly meetings here in the south bay area for the Marina Pacifica Job Club on Fridays mornings from 10:00 - 11:30. I have promoted Pink
Slip mixer events to my group and we have attended your events. The members are enthusiastic and we would love to have you talk at one of our upcoming meetings. Great location and outside area where you can also grab a cup of coffee and relax outside in the sunshine! Please let me know and we can set it up.

HI Edwin,

You have put together a great concept and I commend you for keeping it going, can't be easy. I attended a Beverly Hills event a couple of months ago, what great people.

I was laid off in 2002, and long story short, started my own business which is still doing pretty well. I attended your mixer a while back to share with people that if they are looking for health insurance that there may be options other than COBRA. Sure I'm trying to grow my business, but so many people don't know how to navigate the insurance craziness and 'spreading the word' to help and educate is my passion.

To give back, I've posted your party info in my monthly newsletter and will do so again, and I tell people about it all the time. Keep up the good work, and let me know how I can be of more help to you.

Hey Edwin,

Like you I have also been unemployed since 2008 and have been helping others look for work. I decided to do these workshops through work2future on interview techniques, etc. I started this 5 day intensive toolbox and have let everyone know about pinkslipmixers. Everyone seems eager to try new things since job boards and applying on line don't really do the trick anymore.
