Our affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida invited the mayor to attend our events. Carlos Gil told Mayor Peyton that he would work around the Mayor's schedule and just wanted an appearance from the mayor to offer hope to our members. Here is the response:
"Hi Carlos: Mayor Peyton greatly appreciates your kindness in extending this invitation, but unfortunately, we aren't able to add this commitment to his calendar at this time due to his full schedule and preparation for the budget address. We hope you understand!"
Our events are during after work hours. We understand the Mayor is busy but come by and support our members because finding a job is a more than fulltime job. If you know Mayor Peyton, please have him reconsider and support our efforts to pay it forward.
